Sports Massage

Deep work on the muscle groups that take the most load in training.

Sports Massage at Glow Esthetic, Lisbon

A sports massage is not a relaxing massage applied to athletes. It is targeted work: we identify which muscle groups are overloaded and where you are in your training cycle, and adapt the technique accordingly.

Training in physiotherapy is a real advantage here, because it helps tell normal muscle tension apart from a sign that needs a referral.

What a sports massage works on

  • Muscle recovery after intense effort
  • Relief of tension and knots
  • Support in preventing overuse injuries
  • Better range of movement
  • Muscle preparation before an event

What happens in the session

  1. A chat about your sport, training load and complaints.
  2. Assessment of the areas with most tension.
  3. Deep, targeted work on the key muscle groups.
  4. Stretching and mobilisation, when appropriate.
  5. Advice for the following days.

Who it is for

Athletes and anyone physically active, whether at the gym, running or in competitive sport. If an injury is suspected — sharp pain, loss of strength, joint swelling — the advice is a medical assessment before any massage.

Questions about Sports Massage

It depends on the goal. Before an event the work is lighter and activating; after intense effort it focuses more on recovery. Tell us your schedule when you book.

Some tenderness in the following 24 to 48 hours is common, especially after deep work. Intense or lasting pain is not normal and should be reported.
